We started our hike at the Sneath Lane trailhead off of Hwy 280 in San Bruno. The five of us met around 9:30 and started along the (paved) Sneath Lane fire road. It's a steady and gradual climb to the Sweeney Ridge. It was foggy and extremely windy. We reached the ridge around 10:30 and there wasn't much of a view. On a clear day, you are supposed to see Montara Peak and Mt Tam and the beaches at Pacifica. We could barely make out the latter. At the top, we went straight to the Discovery Site which is where a group of people led by Gaspar de Portola became the first Europeans to set sight on the San Francisco Bay in 1769. There is a marker here. After this, due to the wind and fog, we decided to head back down. This is a beautiful hike despite the wind and fog and the trail is full of beautiful spring wildflowers as can be seen from the photos (see gallery link above). <html> <br /> <br /> <script type="text/javascript"><!-- google_ad_client = "pub-1002060848787196"; google_ad_width = 728; google_ad_height = 90; google_ad_format = "728x90_as"; google_ad_type = "text"; google_ad_channel =""; google_color_border = "FFFFFF"; google_color_bg = "FFFFFF"; google_color_link = "11593C"; google_color_text = "000000"; google_color_url = "008000"; //--></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js"> </script> </html>
